Next weekend at Cal State Northridge, my producing partner Jonathan Menendez and I will be teaching a workshop at the Queer People of Color Conference. We will be sharing our experiences working together the last few years in the creation of documentary called Gay Latino Los Angeles. The film documents the lives of 3 young gay Latino men in Los Angeles and their search for identity while dealing with issues of family, machismo, religion and culture. Although I have ample things to say, I always feel that opening up the floor to questions is always best to create a dialogue with aspiring filmmakers. I have given several workshops in the past covering topics like film festival submissions, indie filmmaking and practical production procedures, and I look forward to sharing this experience with a new audience. The film is still in post production and will be released in the next few months.
